In the last few months a handful of call centers in Maine have closed their doors leaving hundreds of Mainers looking for jobs.  Great Falls Marketing in Auburn wants to hire 50 people over the next month.  Are you looking for a job?

Finding good paying jobs has been tough for many people in the State of Maine as well as nationally.  The Bureau of Labor Statistics report the National Unemployment Rate stands at 9.5% as of April 2010.  The State of Maine reports a lower Unemployment Rate at 8.4% as of April 2010.  Mary LaFontaine from the Career Center in Lewiston adds, “These percentages are low because they don’t take into consideration the many people who are not working and haven’t applied for unemployment benefits.  The job pool right now offers employers an incredible selection of potential new hires but on the other hand, those looking for jobs need to sharpen their skills.  It is great to see a company like Great Falls to continue hiring in the Lewiston/Auburn area.”

Tanya Veinott, Director of Sales at Great Falls Marketing says, “We need about 50 new hires over the next month to help us handle the call volume we are forecasted to receive from our clients.  It is hard to find stable work that pays well in the Lewiston/Auburn area and Great Falls offers a great work environment where people can work part time or full time and average $15-20 per hour.  Our seasoned sales agents average $22-25 per hour.  Plus many of our sales agents have the opportunity to be promoted to management positions within Great Falls.”

The Maine Department of Labor reports that the Androscoggin County Unemployment Rate stands at 8.3% as of April 2010.  MacCheyne says, “We are also looking to hold a part time evening training class for those working days at another job and wanting additional income with a part time job.  June 21 we start with our evening training course.”
